Who Can Become a Secular Carmelite?

Practicing Roman Catholics who are...

  • in full communion with the Church

  • at least 18 years of age

  • able to provide a current official Church copy of Baptismal Certificate

  • provide documentation showing proof of a valid marriage in the Catholic Church

  • not already a member of any other group that requires promises or vows

  • living in the Catholic faith for at least 18 months after Baptism

What are the periods of formation:

  1. Aspirancy - ordinarily 12 sessions

  2. Preparation for First/Temporary Promises - 24 sessions

  3. Preparation for Definitive Promises - 36 sessions
